This is a particularly disturbing story I found at NY1. Seems United Healthcare and Oxford Health Plans are trying to terminate about 1000 doctors affiliated with Continuum Health Partners (which include St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital, Beth Israel Medical Centers, Long Island College Hospital and New York Eye and Ear Infirmary)–just because their only attending privileges are at these hospitals. This would mean that a whole lot of people would have to go to a different hospital or pay more out of pocket.
As of now a state Supreme Court justice has blocked it and the court has ruled in favor of Continuum, but arbitration is pending and all is not over. We’ll try to keep you informed as this community relies on LICH and we’d all be unhappy to see this go through.
