A new American cafe has finally opened in the space formerly occupied by French-African eatery, Korhogo. Though it’s still BYOB (for now), Lilla Cafe opened its doors last Thursday at 126 Union St. and sports a fresh, well-thought out menu (left). Floor-to-ceiling front windows show off a clean design, white tablecloths and a glimpse of seating in the back garden. Appetizers include a chicken liver plate, fried oysters and a fresh shrimp and asparagus risotto–though you could just as easily start with a seafood gumbo or watermelon and feta salad. Mains run the gamut from a seafood capellini to roast chicken to seared delmonico steak. A kids menu is intact–with pasta, burger, fish or chicken. They are open for dinner right now but plan on doing weekend brunch and weekday lunch soon.
