Families First is a well-established community program that is dedicated to supporting families in the neighborhood. And because it’s non-profit (it gets support from the NY State Assembly among others) you know the folks who work there are doing it for love, which is always nice.

The basic fee for membership is $75 a year. For another $225, you’ll have unlimited access to the drop-in playspace, which has toys for kids from babies to older toddlers of both sexes. It also has windows, which gives the room natural light. Other perks include a smaller baby playroom–which is nicely padded and has an array of stuffed toys, swings, and even a changing table—a library, and a lunch room where kids can also do arts and crafts.

Membership also allows you to sign up for additional classes or activities for the kids (like music, art and cooking) or for parents (CPR, choosing a pre-school, drop-in mom’s groups). Hours are 9-4pm Monday to Thursday and 9-1pm on Fridays. Our special plea? Please stay open later during the winter hours!
